Understanding Your Child’s Needs: Assessments & Reports
Our comprehensive assessments and detailed reports provide the foundation for understanding your child’s unique strengths, challenges, and developmental needs. These tools guide therapy planning and ensure targeted, effective support. We offer an individualised approach to our assessments and reports, tailoring them to the specific needs of each client at the time of assessment, ensuring a personalised approach that meets your family’s goals and priorities.
Why Are Assessments Important?
Assessments are a critical first step in your child’s therapy journey. Through play-based observation, standardised assessment tools, and collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other key stakeholders (such as teachers), our therapists gain a deeper understanding of your child’s abilities and areas for support.
This process helps identify goals, monitor progress, and create tailored intervention plans designed to support your child’s development across home, school, and community environments.

Reporting and Documentation
We offer a variety of reports tailored to meet the unique needs of each client and their stage in the OT journey. Whether it’s an OT Assessment Report, a Functional Capacity Assessment, or documentation to support school, NDIS, or other services, our reports are designed to provide clear, practical insights. Each report is thoughtfully compiled to reflect your child’s progress, goals, and specific requirements, ensuring they serve as a valuable resource for families, educators, and other professionals involved in your child’s care.

When does OT Assessment take place?
OT Assessment is an important part of starting with your OT. This will look different for each unique child depending on a variety of factors. Our OTs complete an initial consultation as the first step to OT to help plan for appropriate assessment and next steps.
I’ve been told I need a Functional Capacity Assessment, what does that mean?
Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) and Reports are very comprehensive assessments and reports that outline the unique needs and functional capacity of a child or teen, as assessed by an occupational therapist through use of standardised tools and assessments, clinical observation, interview and stakeholder report generally. These assessments and reports are quite lengthy and therefore require approximately 2-3 months to complete typically. If you require an FCA, reach out to your treating OT, or our team if you are in need of an OT to complete an FCA.
